During the 2020 pandemic we were forced to stay inside for weeks, or months, on end. This had a catastrophic effect on our brain. We had to adapt to being inside and we were uncertain about our future. This led to a rise in stress and depression. We had never had to isolate ourselves from the social space, we thrive on human contact.
For me, the main issue I ran into was brain fog. I thought it was just me, that I was being more neglectful with my memory or speech. Though research shows that I am not the only one. What some people call "mom brain," isn't specified to gender and is actually a sign for our brain evolving. Some say that writing lists help, repeating tasks in your head, and taking a second to think about what you forgot is helpful too.
These longterm issues fluctuate and the severity varies from person to person. Even now that we're two years later, scientists still aren't entirely sure how it happens. It can take time for people that were affected to gain recognition and for research to catch up. Hopefully it happens soon.
