Origins of this content
This texteo features my analysis mixed with a video made by my student, edauenhauer for Fall 2007 answering an assignment the class developed about popularity on YouTube.
Contextualization
Final Cut Pro "is a very sophisticated video editing program made by Apple. It is the editing software of choice for multimedia journalists using Apple computers, and is comparable to Adobe's Premiere video editing program. Final Cut Pro does not make a version for Windows. Final Cut Pro is particularly popular with video journalists working in the field who want to edit their video on a laptop computer."[cit]

According to John Hartley: "Public writing is produced, circulated, and deciphered or read. Each of these moments in its career has its own frequency:
* The speed of creation: how long a given 'text' of public writing takes to produce
* Frequency of circulation: intervals between publication
* The wavelength of consumption: the period a given text spends in the public domain before being superseded by later 'pulses' of text from the same source."[cit]

ON YOUTUBE, MEANING IS LOST TO FEELING

In this highly entertaining form of vernacular video—no need for words!—meaning is lost to a feeling that is buttressed by the sound of music and cut to the speed of Final Cut Pro. Reliant on both spectacle and humor, this is also the video terrain of the expert.
