Tara McPherson      Associate Professor, Gender Studies and Critical Studies
Editor, Vectors: Journal of Culture and Technology in a Dynamic Vernacular
Professor McPherson teaches courses in television, new media, and popular culture in USC's School of Cinematic Arts. Before arriving at USC, Tara taught at MIT. Her Reconstructing Dixie: Race, Gender and Nostalgia in the Imagined South (Duke UP: 2003) received the 2004 John G. Cawelti Award for the outstanding book published on American Culture and was a finalist for the Katherine Singer Kovacs Book Award from the Society for Cinema and Media Studies. She is co-editor of the anthology Hop on Pop: The Politics and Pleasures of Popular Culture (Duke UP: 2003). Her writing has appeared in numerous journals, including Camera Obscura, The Velvet Light Trap, Discourse, and Screen, and in edited anthologies such as Race and Cyberspace, The New Media Handbook, The Visual Culture Reader 2.0, Virtual Publics and Basketball Jones. She is currently co-editing two anthologies on new technology (including one for the MacArthur Foundation), working on a book manuscript on racial epistemologies in the electronic age, and editing Vectors, a multimedia publishing project sponsored by the Institute for Multimedia Literacy.
Co-organizer of the 1999 conference, Interactive Frictions, Tara is among the founding organizers of Race in Digital Space, a multi-year project that has included conferences and art exhibits at MIT, USC and MOCA. The initiative is supported by the Annenberg Center for Communication and the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations. Her new media research focuses on issues of convergence, gender, race, and representation, and multimedia literacy and authorship. She is also exploring the film, television and multimedia work of Charles and Ray Eames. She is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Archives, has served as an AFI juror, and is on the boards of several journals.

Steve Anderson   
http://technohistory.netSteve Anderson is an Associate Professor and founding director of the PhD program in Media Arts and Practice in the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He is also Co-Editor of Vectors Journal of Culture and Technology in a Dynamic Vernacular and creator of the online media archive Critical Commons. His research interests include historiography, the theory and history of emerging technologies, documentary and experimental film and video, and interactive media design. He is the author of Technologies of History (Dartmouth 2011), which examines eccentric constructions of history on film, television and digital media. Anderson holds a PhD in Film, Literature and Culture from USC and an MFA in Film and Video from CalArts.

Erik Loyer   
http://www.erikloyer.comErik Loyer's interactive artworks have been exhibited online and in festivals and museums throughout the United States and abroad, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Prix Ars Electronica; and Transmediale. Loyer is the creator of The Lair of the Marrow Monkey, one of the first websites to be added to the permanent collection of a major art museum, and Chroma, an award-winning web serial about the racial politics of virtual reality. As Creative Director for Vectors, he has designed numerous multimedia essays in collaboration with leading humanities scholars. Loyer's commercial portfolio includes Clio and One Show Gold Award-winning work for Vodafone as well as projects for BMW and Sony. He is the recipient of a Rockefeller Film/Video/Multimedia Fellowship, and his works have been honored in the Montreal International Festival of New Cinema and New Media and the California Design Biennial. Loyer has a B.A. in Cinema/Television Production from the University of Southern California.

Craig Dietrich   
http://www.craigdietrich.comCraig teams with scholars and designers on Vectors projects solving creative and information challenges, and creates tools for online art & humanities production. His recent collaborations include the Mukurtu Archive and Plateau People's Web Portal content manager based on Aboriginal cultural protocols, ThoughtMesh, a semantic online publishing system, the Dynamic Backend Generator, a MySQL-based relational data writing canvas, and an upcoming metadata server for artworks and artists. He is presently in production of Magic, a project documenting innovation in humanities-centered interactive media, and USA Today, a multimedia project focusing on trans-nationalism's consequences. Craig is an Assistant Professor of Cinema Practice at USC's Institute for Multimedia Literacy, part of the School of Cinematic Arts, where he teaches project design and creative hypertext. He is also further immersed in network art and culture as a researcher at the University of Maine's Still Water lab.

Raegan Kelly   Creative Director, 2004-2008Co-Creative Director and site designer for Vectors through the Difference issue (5), Raegan Kelly has worked as an interactive designer, programmer, cinematographer, and screen printer for the last 15 years. Raegan is leaving to focus her creative energies on a solo venture in innovative, functional and non- toxic material design. She has a BA from UC Berkeley and an MFA in Film from CalArts.
