Fred Figgelhorn (Lucas Cruikshank) is one of the most subscribed and viewed videomakers on YouTube. He has used this fame to
leave YouTube, sell stuff, and get his own TV movie, as well. "His videos are centered on Fred Figglehorn, a fictional 6-year-old who has a dysfunctional home life and 'anger management issues.'"

The rising rates of youth media consumption are an area of study and sometimes concern for
scholars,
researchers, educators,
journalists, parents, and
kids. An example of this concern is a Kaiser Family Foundation News Release, "Daily Media Use Among Children and Teens Up Dramatically From Five Years Ago": "Today, 8- 18-year-olds devote an average of 7 hours and 38 minutes (7:38) to using entertainment media across a typical day (more than 53 hours a week). And because they spend so much of that time 'media multitasking' (using more than one medium at a time), they actually manage to pack a total of 10 hours and 45 minutes (10:45) worth of media content into those 7.5 hours."

The Digital Youth Research Project's Final Report suggests that "social network sites, online games, video-sharing sites, and gadgets such as iPods and mobile phones are now fixtures of youth culture."
