Contextualization
"Dubbed 'the explainer' by Wired magazine, Michael Wesch is a cultural anthropologist exploring the effects of new media on society and culture. After two years studying the implications of writing on a remote indigenous culture in the rain forest of Papua New Guinea, he has turned his attention to the effects of social media and digital technology on global society. His videos on culture, technology, education, and information have been viewed by millions, translated in over 15 languages, and are frequently featured at international film festivals and major academic conferences worldwide."[cit]

The Machine is Us/Ing Us: "Cultural anthropologist, Dr. Michael Wesch set out to create a video to visually show and tell the shift to Web 2.0 online utilizing the very tools that represent the shift, in under 5 minutes."[cit]

Short for HyperText Markup Language, the authoring language used to create documents on the World Wide Web, HTML is similar to SGML, although it is not a strict subset. HTML defines the structure and layout of a Web document by using a variety of tags and attributes.[cit]

According to Dr. Tom Tyler, the Internet provides people with a technology that allows them to engage in activities that they already had but provides them with some added efficiencies and opportunities to tailor their interactions to better meet their needs. http://bolender.com/Dr.%20Ron/SOC1023G%20Social%20Problems/New%20Social%20Problems%20Course%20Folder/The%20Internet%20and%20Social%20Life.pdf">[cit]
