How might the experience have differed if the images at left drifted, like snow, from the top to the bottom of the screen?
That earlier snowfall version of the interface (often referred to as a "falling pictures") was the original version of the interface and was only abandoned during the final months of the development process. This structure emerged directly from the numerous discussions with the entire company and David Jennings. It was sparked by a thought, expressed by a company member, about building something from nothing... writing the definitive story yourself.
